Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fee structure?

  • $180 for individual sessions

  • $200 for couples sessions

  • I have a few sliding scale spots that I reserve for clients struggling financially. Please reach out to see if there are any spots available. If you’re wondering if you qualify see the chart below.

Will the sessions be covered by my insurance?

  • Probably! I am registered with the Ontario and Quebec colleges for social workers. If your insurance covers mental health services offered by Social Workers with an MSW, then our sessions should be covered! I encourage you to check your policy just in case to avoid any surprises.

How long are sessions?

  • The regular rates above are offered for 50 minute sessions.

  • I do offer longer sessions when needed and agreed upon ahead of time by all parties. Reach out if you have any questions about what that could look like for your unique situation.

What do I need a 20 minute consult call for? Can’t I just book a full appointment right away?

  • The 20 minute FREE consult is a great way for us to get to know each other a tiny bit before we jump into a whole 50 minutes together. It also gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have and to get a sense if you think I might be a good fit for you.

  • In 20 minutes, through talking about the type of support you’re looking for, I can also help you determine whether or not my services and style might work well for your situation, or offer you other service suggestions if not.

  • If for some reason, 20 minutes feels intimidating and you want to just jump right in, we can do that too.

I’ve never done therapy before - what should I expect for my first appointment?

  • During the first appointment, I like to get a general picture of what your life looks like. I’ll take the lead so you don’t have to worry about preparing anything! Towards the end we can start to get into more details about what you want to accomplish in our sessions and how we can make that happen.

  • If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t have it all figured out yet, that’s okay! There’s no pressure to have all the right answers and we can sort through it all together at the right pace.

Do I qualify for sliding scale (reduced rate) sessions?

  • My sliding scale rate is $130 and I reserve a few spots in my case load for clients who need it. While I wish I could offer this rate to every one who needs it, unfortunately it wouldn’t be sustainable for me.

  • If I don’t have any more spots available, I can always put you on a waitlist and reach out as soon as one opens up.

  • If money is tight, we can also plan your sessions around any insurance coverage you might have! For example, if you can only afford to be in therapy for 10 sessions because that is what is covered by your insurance, we can make that work! If this is your plan, please let me know ahead of time so we can set reasonable goals and I can help keep our sessions focused during our time together.

  • You know your financial situation better than I do! Below is a graphic that can help you determine where you fall compared to others and whether or not a reduced rate for therapy is right for you.
